Time Marches On Like An Endless: A Poem

Time Marches On Like An Endless: A Poem

Michelle Gray is a senior in Mr. Gough’s creative writing class where she wrote this amazing poem.

Time marches on like an endless parade
Rushing by
And slipping away

So long was a minute, now short is a day
Time taken for granted with no idea why
Because life marches on like an endless parade

How I long for those sunlit yesterdays
So few expectations, so few barriers to defy
A time of innocence and play

As the sun now sets on the past’s decay
I seek normality to numb yesterday’s cry
For time marches on like an endless parade

Although there are patches of light and patches of grey
The past carries us forward and does not lie
Wonderful or terrible, preparing us for another trying day

Should your shoes tatter and should your soul fray,
You’ll be alright til the day hats were supposed to fly
Just to be reminded, that time marches on like an endless parade
