Yum Yum Donuts Review
On school days, the Yum Yum Donuts next to North Hollywood High School is completely packed with hungry students waiting to get a quick bite. Students are either lined outside or rushing out with goodies and refreshments in hand. Occasionally you may see someone flag their friends allowing them to cut in front of other famished students.
Gyubin Kim, a ninth-grade student here at North Hollywood says one of the reasons she frequents the store is because of the “student-friendly prices.” A donut goes for $1.29, fourteen donut holes are sold for $3.99, the same price as a ham and cheese croissant. A breakfast bowl with your choice of bacon, ham, turkey, or sausage will set you back $4.99. And to wash all the goods down or if you are in need of caffeine, iced coffee sells for $3.79.
“If someone were to forget their breakfast in the morning, they could easily get something at Yum Yum before they go to school, it’s a lot better than going to Taco Bell in my opinion. It’s a healthier and more filling option. Their donuts are also easy to snack on after school when lots of students are usually hungry.” Gyubin adds on. “As well as the prices being reasonable, it also tastes really good.”
Another student Brandon Cho, a senior at North Hollywood says, “I like to go to Yum Yum during lunch when I can leave the building. It’s really convenient just walking across the street to get something affordable to eat.” Students who are allowed to leave the school during lunch take advantage of having the store near them without having to worry about being late for their next class. “After volleyball practice, I sometimes go to Yum Yum to get a quick snack if I’m hungry or drained of energy. With the fair prices, money is not a problem,” says Daniel Noh, a sophomore.
Currently, the donut shop has 380 google reviews and received 4.5 out of 5 stars. One of the positive reviews states, “..my goto place for donuts..fresh donuts, great service..” However, on Yelp, the store has 2.5 stars out of 5, mainly because of the limited variety of donuts. If you ask North Hollywood High students though, they might say the restaurant is terrible because of the long lines and lack of ice usually in the afternoons when it’s the hottest, but it’s nothing compared to the ridiculously long lines at their competitors such as Krispy Kremes.
Yum Yum is a popular and approved store by so many, especially students at North Hollywood High School. It’s quick, affordable, and delicious.
