Winter season sports are coming back, and soccer is making its striking comeback on November 16, 2023 at 4:30 PM against East Valley High School on North Hollywood High School’s field.
In previous years the soccer team’s head coach was Oscar M Ramirez. However, the soccer team is now under the new supervision of Head Coach Nickolas Barba.
Last year the soccer team had an overall score of four wins, one tie, and 14 losses. In the East Valley League the Huskies were ranked at sixth place with two wins and 10 losses.
This year will be different as the soccer team is under new management, and the soccer team wants to make their comeback heard.
Their first game is a non league game against the falcons, however this game will let our team know where they stand.
Last year the Huskies won against East Valley 9-1. Senior, Number 10 Dominic Jackson scored two goals, Junior, Number 23 Justin Kim scored one goal, Junior, Number 12 Jonah Dayan scored two goals, Senior, Number 6 Wilfred Gonzalez scored two goals, Sophomore, Number 5 Giancarlo Arevalo scored one goal, and Freshman, Number 13 Andres Amezcua scored one goal.
So, we will still have four out of six of our players who scored against the Falcons last year. Therefore, the Falcons will still have trouble facing off against the Huskies, and that is exactly what the Huskies want.
The team as a whole has developed as a program, and are ready to enter this season with flying colors.
This is how confident are players are:
Number 23, Justin Kim, said that “I’m excited for the upcoming soccer season and hopefully our new coach can bring us a new type of success!”
Number 9, James Travers, states that “I feel pretty excited and am looking forward to our season. We have a solid lineup on the field. Individually, each player is great. I would say though that in order for us to have that good season we would need to work on our chemistry as a team. Our coach seems to hold the promise to help us reach that goal. So far he is a great coach and pushes us to move forward by staying serious, but he also keeps a connection with us by being friendly. We have a game this Thursday at home at 4:30 against East Valley, and we’ll see if the work we’ve put in is paying off.”
Number 18, Jacob Suh, exclaims how “As the new season is approaching I am really excited and ready to start off the new season indefinitely and jubilantly. I am really committed and trust my coach a lot as he is like Thomas Tuchel in the champions league final for Chelsea I believe with him as our coach we will win all our games and earn our dignity VAMOSSSSS!!”
Number 21, Diego Guzman, adds that “I’m feeling excited about the new season to start, having a new coach has brought excitement and team morale is high. We hope to start the new season strong!”
Number 8, Kobe Chavez, explains how “I’m excited for the soccer season starting and it being my senior year I want us to have a good season. I feel that having a new coach is good to have a new view of how we could play. Also, that coach has been good and has been putting in the work to find out how we play to put us in a lineup to play the best we can.”
