In an exuberant celebration of academic achievement and future aspirations, North Hollywood High School hosted a lively event during lunch on December 5th to honor the senior class for their remarkable efforts in applying to college. With applications for the University of California and other institutions having concluded on November 30, the event served as a well-deserved congratulatory moment for these high-achieving students.
The school’s bungalows were transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and excitement as seniors eagerly engaged in various activities designed to celebrate their journey towards higher education. The atmosphere buzzed with positivity, as students embraced the festivities that included bracelet making, banner decorations, manifestation activities, and the creation of future vision boards.
One of the highlights of the event was the bracelet-making station, where seniors crafted personalized bracelets that reflected their unique personalities and aspirations. The colorful array of beads served as tangible symbols of the diverse dreams and ambitions that each senior carries with them as they embark on their college expedition.
“I love the idea of creating something physical to represent this milestone. Crafting these bracelets feels like weaving a piece of our journey into something we can wear every day,” expressed Sarah Lopez, a senior, as she meticulously selected beads to craft her commemorative bracelet.
“I’m spelling out my name and my dream school into my bracelet,” Zoe Lee mentioned. “I’m hoping to manifest my dream school, and I’m even adding my favorite colors, too.”
The bungalows were adorned with banners showcasing the names of the universities the seniors had applied to, turning the entire area into a visual celebration of academic achievement. The vibrant decorations served not only as a proud display but also as inspiration for underclassmen to aim for their own ambitious goals.
Walking amidst the fluttering banners, senior Alex Garcia commented, “It feels surreal to see the name of my dream school right there. It definitely gives me hope that I can get in there.”
A dedicated corner was set up for the creation of future vision boards, where seniors could articulate and visualize their life goals in college and beyond.
With a marker in hand, Sarah Cabrera, shared, “This is like a glimpse into our dreams. It’s empowering to visualize where we see ourselves in the future, and it’s amazing to see the diversity of dreams within our class.”
From career aspirations to personal milestones, these vision boards provided a glimpse into the bright and promising futures that lie ahead for the graduating class of 2024.
Emily Chen remarked, “This board is a snapshot of my dreams, a tangible reminder of what I’m working towards. It’s inspiring to visualize the future we’re all building together.”
The event also offered students the opportunity to manifest their dream schools by participating in a unique activity where they could express their preferences and expectations for the college experience. This interactive element allowed seniors to share their excitement and anticipation for the next chapter of their academic endeavor.
Hoping to head to UC San Diego, David Martinez. exclaimed, “It’s like we’re collectively shaping our futures. Every word written here represents not just my dream but the dreams of my classmates too. Everyone here is on the same page, eagerly hoping to get into their dream school.”
Amid the December chill, the hot chocolate booth provided a cozy place for students to warm up. Each cup, topped with a dollop of whipped cream and marshmallows, welcomed students to a sensory retreat. The steam rising from the cups added to the cozy ambiance, creating an inviting oasis amidst the bustling celebration.
“After all the stress of college applications, this is exactly what we needed – a sweet pause,” shared Jacqueline Orteg. “This booth feels like a treat, a reward for all the hard work.”
The event was not only a celebration of academic achievements but also a testament to the supportive and close-knit community fostered at North Hollywood. Teachers, staff, and fellow students came together to applaud the seniors for their hard work and dedication throughout the college application process.
As the lunchtime celebration drew to a close, the seniors left the bungalows with smiles on their faces and a renewed sense of pride in their accomplishments. The event successfully captured the spirit of unity and optimism that defines the Husky community, as the graduating class eagerly looks forward to the next chapter of their educational voyage.
