The 2025 Los Angeles wildfires have devastated communities across the region, forcing thousands to evacuate and leaving homes and neighborhoods in ashes. Amid the chaos and destruction, the North Hollywood High School community has stood strong, with students, teachers, and staff helping to support one another during this crisis.

Noah Nosrati, a senior at North Hollywood High, shared a similar story of upheaval. As flames moved dangerously close to his Burbank neighborhood, he and his family had to evacuate with little warning. “We thought the fire was moving fast and since we were not home at the time of the evacuation notice we had to move as quickly as possible,” Nosrati explained, “We stayed the night at my grandma’s house but thankfully the sunset fire was put out quickly.” While recalling the fear and uncertainty of leaving his home behind, Nosrati had no guarantees about what he might return to, but he hoped that his home would still be standing once he returned.
Jett Black, a junior at North Hollywood High, described the surreal nature of his family’s evacuation near the Santa Monica Mountains. “I wasn’t at my house at the time of the evacuation notice therefore there was no time for me to get any valuables from my home, it felt like I lost all hope,” said Black, “I wasn’t worried about the prices of the items in my home but I was worried about the priceless memories that came with them.”
For Mr. Manzo, a North Hollywood High English teacher, the fires have been deeply personal. “Given how traumatic and devastating this event is, I have been making many phone calls, texts, and checking in on those who are being affected by the fires,” said Mr. Manzo. “Last week, though, I personally went to donation centers to drop off supplies to those who are struggling.” His efforts have been a beacon of hope for many, as he coordinates relief initiatives and provides emotional and practical support to students, colleagues, and their families.

Despite the immense challenges brought on by the wildfires, the North Hollywood High community has emerged as a source of resilience and hope. Students have opened their homes to displaced friends, teachers have offered emotional support, and staff have worked tirelessly to ensure the school remains a safe space for all. The Huskies have proven that even in the face of disaster, unity and kindness can prevail.
As the flames subside and recovery efforts begin, the road to rebuilding will undoubtedly be long. Yet, through the courage and compassion of those affected, the North Hollywood High community shines brightly. Though the fires have left scars, they have also strengthened the resolve to rebuild, recover, and emerge stronger together.
