With basketball season coming to an end, the time for seniors to get the recognition they deserve came around. The girls and boys basketball team’s senior night were nights to remember. The game made the seniors play their best. After the game, the teams held a post-game celebration that commemorated the seniors and all their hard work.
The girls’ basketball senior night took place on Wednesday, February 12. The Lady Huskies had an unfortunate turnout of 44-28 against Grant. Even though the outcome is not what they wanted, the after-game celebration made it all worth it.
Senior night was quite the night to remember. Power Forward, Eunice Choi (#24) explains, “I remember it being filled with a bunch of mixed emotions- sadness, happiness, nostalgia, and so much more. It really made me feel how great my time at NH and involvement with the basketball program was.” Playing alongside the same team these last four years made the final game an emotional one, especially at the celebration afterwards. Choi reflects, “It was very nice and heartwarming, filled with tears of both sadness and joy.” The seniors had a “senior sign off” poster where all the seniors put paint on their hand and stamp their hand onto a poster with their name on it. What a way to end the season!
Power forward and guard, Alexa Corrales (#20) played hard on the court. Corrales explains, “After 4 long, grueling years, it was nice to have a night to commemorate it all and celebrate with all my friends.” After all her hard work these last four years, it all paid off during senior night.

For their celebration after the game, Corrales reflects, “ After three years of watching and organizing senior nights, I was so excited for mine…Hearing my name called, the applause and cheers, it was amazing. It was overall such a good night and what a way to end my last season playing.” Ending the season with a special celebration made the girls feel loved and appreciated after all the time, energy, and effort they have put into this team and this sport.
Center and forward, Steffany Gomez (#22) fought hard in her last game. Gomez reflects,“By the third quarter I personally was feeling worn out and tired pushing myself to finish the game. In the end I truly believe our efforts were definitely seen by the audience as we continued to play through these strong emotions, bad calls, and arising conflicts between our team.” Even through the ups and downs of the game, in the end all the seniors ran out onto the court and celebrated together.
These emotions were high and were shown in the after game celebration. Gomez describes, “Honestly it was more than I could’ve asked for, everything was perfect from the decorations to the gift baskets… I truly wouldn’t have changed absolutely anything if I had the option to do so. It was a good way to end the season.” Senior night was even better than they imagined and made them feel special on their day.
As the 2024-2025 season ends for the lady huskies, their celebration for their seniors was one for the books. As the team is losing six seniors, they will forever hold them in their hearts. The seniors will always remember their time on the court.
However, the boys senior night was definitely a highlight of the season.

The boys basketball senior night took place on Friday, February 14 with a clean sweep by the Huskies. It was a successful senior night against Chavez, with a score of 80-32. Afterwards the team held a celebration as tribute to the seniors and all their hard work.
Shooting guard, Andrey Arakelov (#1) played his heart out on the court. He reflects, “we played really well and every senior got a chance to have fun and play however we wanted to and we all had good games.” Playing with all the seniors for one last time, made it a special and memorable game.
After the game, a small celebration was held for the seniors. He recalls, “Honoring us was good because it felt like a nice farewell in a sense with everyone being there, friends, family, and teammates.” Sharing this last moment as a team will forever be remembered.
Small forward, Trevor Muhwana (#14) makes his presence known on the court.
He reflects, “The senior night game was electrifying and will be memorable.” As the huskies dominated the court, the game flew by.
When the small celebration happened, Muhwana explains, “The celebration for the seniors was fun because our friends and family were there to celebrate with us.” Coming off the high of the huskies victory, spending a moment together as a team and with families was just the right way to end the night.

Point guard, Lucas Gonzales (#20) shined on the court. He reflects, “we all just tried to have as much fun as possible. It was a really great night to get a win after what had been a somewhat turbulent season.” The Huskies fought through a tough season but senior night made it all worth it.
For the celebration afterwards, Gonzales describes, “I personally felt very loved and appreciated and was touched by the effort put in by our team managers, coaches, and parents to make sure we were taken care of.” Even some of the former players from the Huskies team came to watch their underclassmen play their last game together.
Overall the basketball senior night was heartwarming and memorable. As both teams have had rough seasons, senior night was the perfect way to close it out. Seniors spent their final moments together on the court, getting recognized for all their hard work, and sharing a moment not only as a team but as a family.
