The boys tennis season was filled with many ups and downs but they kept their energy through it all. They defeated Oakwood High School and made it to the Open Division. Although with the unfortunate turnout of their last match, it was 7.5-22. This season went extremely well with the overall score of 9-1. The team is eager for the next season.
Singles player Aaron Kao is a fresh face for the Huskies. He was welcomed with open arms by the team. Kao explains, “I’m improving, getting better with every match. As a team our chemistry has gotten better.” Throughout the season, Kao has faced tough opponents, but conquered them. Kao can recognize his opponent’s mentality. He explains from his match against Verdugo Hills High School, “It was on the easier side. Mentally, I was stronger than them.” So far a good first season for Kao.

Singles player Issac Winters returns for his second season. Winters explains, “I feel good! I really enjoyed this season. Because it is my second season on the team, I feel that I have built up a greater sense of camaraderie with my teammates.” This season has greatly improved winters playing and overall outlook on the game. Winters describes, “I am happy to have done better so far this season than last season”.
Captain Davis Kim, being more than a player but a leader this season. Kim has gone through the good, the bad, and the ugly with the team. Kim describes, “Being Captain is fun and rewarding. It also gives me an opportunity to contribute to the team as a leader, not just as a player.” As the season went strong, Kim explains, “I feel confident and optimistic about the season. We have a lot of younger players that bring good energy.”

Senior Captain Alan Duchenko played his final season with North Hollywood High School. Playing Doubles one with Horus Kup and couldn’t be more proud of the team. Duchenko reflects, “Iit was easy for us to come together and operate as a unit…I am confident that we can take one more title home.”. Being captain especially with this season coming is extremely special to Duchenko., He explains, “You have to be the team leader, support everyone when they’re at their lowest and cheer up your teammates when they’re losing and winning, making them feel like they’re on a team.”
Coach Edmond, after coaching the boys for two years now, took the team to the highest division in tennis. Edmond explains, “Reaching the ‘Open’ league, the highest level of CIF competition, is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and talent. It’s been a challenging, but ultimately rewarding journey.” Even with the undesirable outcome, Edmond is ready to develop the team next year and bring back home a championship. Edmond describes, “My broader goals are to see the players grow both as athletes and individuals, to foster a strong sense of teamwork and sportsmanship, and to create lasting positive memories of this experience.”
The Huskies had a great run this season. Although the ending wasn’t what they wanted, they still fought really hard and will come back harder next season. The Huskies are going to be back better than ever next season!
