Playboi Carti is a unique artist who has gained popularity throughout the past decade.

Undeniably, Carti has one of the most dedicated fan bases. But fans were left with nothing to look forward to after his WLR album was released in 2020. Carti posts on his social media hinting at new music, but continues to leave his audience waiting after.

His label called “OPIUM” features the artists Homixide Beno!, Homixide Meechie! (Also known as Homixide Gang), Ken Carson, and Destroy Lonely, who have been keeping his name and label alive while he remains silent.

All of these artists have their own sounds, and the label has gathered people who have that unique voice and style of music. Homixide Gang only recently had picked up a lot of fans while on tour, showing what they have to offer to the world.

But the real duo, Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson, are anticipated to drop a collaboration project soon which they believe is going to show the way they have progressed, with Destroy Lonely saying he implemented a new sound. He says that he wants this album to be looked at how far he has come and how he improved himself.

Ken Carson says he looks at Destroy Lonely as a brother and with that bond they have is why their music goes so well together; the way they both implement their own sound and the energy they put it in together makes the music reach its highest potential, which never fails to satisfy their fans.

High school student Armando Rodgriuez says, “The music is very different from all of these other artists nowadays.”

For their music being mostly influential towards the youth they hope they can use this for inspiration.

Ken Carson says his music is for when you’re sad, and is there to help you get up and realize there isn’t anything stopping you from being you at your highest. His energy at Playboi Carti’s most recent show at Rolling Loud was described as out of this world.

NHHS Junior Armando Rodriguez, when asked how the music made him feel, said, “This music makes you want to get up and do something. I attended the Curtis Rolling Loud show which was crazy. The energy and vibe were very energetic and Carti bringing out his HENCHMEN, Erry, and MitchM00des made it even better.”

Carti played most of his greatest hits and even featured an unreleased song that had his fans really excited.

Carti is anticipated to drop, but with his pattern, nobody knows exactly when that will be. He has countless leaked songs which is said to be the reason for the album being delayed.

The record label “OPIUM” has also had a really big influence on fashion.

NHHS Junior Angel Santiago says, “I attended the concert for Destroy Lonely and I saw a lot of people in all black.  Also with this being my first concert, it was very uplifting. The energy of the crowd was amazing and the music being played on the loudspeakers is what made it even better. Overall it was a 10/10 experience.”

The artists signed under this label remain to wear expensive designer and keep a dark-colored aesthetic, wearing brands like Balenciaga, Raf Simons, Rick Owens, and Vetements.

Following them has influenced the youth majorly with all over social media people are seen wearing these designers and maintaining that dark aesthetic.

Homixide Gang is set to be touring across the United States on their own, and following the popularity they gained from Destroy Lonely’s tour, they are expected to be a great success.

NHHS Sophomore Kendra Rios says that the music from this Label gives her the vibe of “chilling in your car with friends and driving somewhere.” Rios adds, “This is very different from what I listen to, but it gives me a good feeling, like it’s something new.”

This label has a lot of things coming with all of the talented artists who are under it.

NHHS Senior Johnny Escobar says, ” feel like this is the type of music that is passed on from generation to generation, when the artists give the fans what they want. Destroy Lonely´s music is true to him – there isn’t anybody with his style in music.” Escobar adds, “It’s a newer and more modern time, the music that develops over time is what amazes this generation of its newer genre of music which makes the music that fluctuates throughout time inspiring for its audience. We go from jazz to hip hop, we go from rock to punk. Can’t wait to see what this modern generation of individuals has to offer to the world.”

Fans are excited about the drop of Destroy Lonely’s upcoming album, “If looks could kill.” This album is anticipated to be his best yet, with all of the new sound he’s adding to his own music. With this album being released, the OPIUM label will be at the top of the charts yet again.
