During these rounds, you will be tested…By the end of the workshops, Lastly, your interview. It will be a 10-minute interview on a first come first serve basis from April 7th to April 8th. STUCO isn’t just about adding spirit or creating events but most importantly it contributes to your class. These members make indelible activities for both juniors and seniors, from raising money for prom to organizing fun senior activities, STUCO plans activities such as senior sunrise, graduation, prom, and more.
“Creativity is a focal point of all our senior class events. Whether this comes to planning Prom or organizing engaging fundraisers, we value creative-thinking skills that will help us plan fun, and successful senior activities.” Junior President Jamie Mendoza proclaimed.

Each grade has a team in which they work based on their committees. Through these committees, members have a different set of responsibilities. There are four committees; Event, Spirit, Public Relations (PR), and Fundraising. Each one has a different task, but being creative and open to working with others will allow you to engage with peers easier. This way, you have the freedom and opportunity to be involved in school but also make your senior year unforgettable.
As mentioned before there are four committees, in which all play a vital role in making sure that your class has the best activities. Event is in charge of bringing the ideas to life, meaning coming up with all the events to promote STUCO. Meaning if you have good planning skills and like planning occasions, then this might be for you. They also run events, as in those who you see speak in assemblies. Lastly, being in even means leading the team, in all aspects.
Spirit is in charge of bringing spirit and excitement to the students. Spirit is in charge of coming up with the spirit weeks by STUCO and fun activities. Being in this committee also requires you to do more hands on, meaning doing posters and most of the hand done items.
PR manages social media and is in charge of the STUCO pages you see online. As in @noho.2026 and @noho.2025 on Instagram. They are also in charge of updating the group if anything new is happening and updates to get on track. Advertising events, online and in school are also involved in this committee. If you have seen the Tiktoks posted you will be able to hop on trends while promoting your school events.
Lastly, Fundraising mostly focuses on the management of money and funds. As well as filling out forms and planning fundraising events to raise money for fun activities. You will also be able to sell on events such as in Back to School night and you will also be able to come up with items to raise funds.
Now a very frequent question asked when applying is, what are the differences between ASB and STUCO? Even though both are created for the school spirit and organized events they both are on different paths. ASB is for every grade and creates school-wide events such as pep rallies. While STUCO is more focused on the upperclassmen and has a more focused responsibility to raise money for seniors.

Member, junior Riley Brinkle, shares why she joined STUCO, “I wanted to make sure the class of 2026 had a great senior year. I wanted to become more involved in the school and make sure students’ voices were heard.”
Joining STUCO will help you be more self-sufficient as Mendoza mentioned while explaining her interest in joining, “I first found interest in Student Council when I discovered that you can play a part in planning your own Prom. The basis of its appeal for me was the amount of engagement students got in directly creating events for their class.”
Being involved in STUCO is a great opportunity but it will also avail you as a member, by earning 10 hours of community service per semester by volunteering and helping in events. As well as in your persona, you will develop more leadership, teamwork, and even planning skills. Furthermore, being involved in STUCO will help you later on in life, as in your resumes, and open doors for new job opportunities.
Here are some members’ experiences, Brinkle shared, “I have had a lot of great memories during my time at STUCO so far and I couldn’t have a favorite. All of it has been so much fun and I love all the people I get to work with. But I do love being able to plan the larger events like red ribbon week and college and career fairs, prom and talk to my colleagues about our ideas.”
As a junior, Menoli Sugathadasa adds that, “planning for the decorations for upcoming events,” are the funniest. STUCO is also about the relationships you build throughout and improving your school community.
Lastly, Mendoza affirmed, “This event allowed us to collaborate more with each other, and eventually helped us bond as we worked. Although everything felt new to us back then, we have come a long way and have been able to work like a family.”
Joining STUCO is your chance to make a change and be part of planning your fun activities, in your junior and senior year. Applications are due soon, so make sure to turn in your applications before the due date and get ready to apply!
