Homecoming Football Game

Homecoming+Football+Game

It was Homecoming Week last week! This means that football came back home.Huskies came to support the football team Friday, October 6, 2023 at 7:00 PM on our field. The theme of the football game was Barbie. This means pink out huskies! I hope that you wore pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness/Barbie Day.

Before going against Monroe, the Huskies had an overall score of 2-3. This means that the Huskies had a 40% win rate. In the league our team was 1-1. This placed North Hollywood in fourth place in the East Valley League.

Coach Faer was ejected from the Chavez game before the second half of the game on Friday, September 22, 2023. Due to policy, Coach Faer was also not allowed to coach the game against Monroe High School. This means that our Huskies didn’t have their head coach to supply them with their game plan or to tell them plays. Thus, Coach Faer doesn’t care about the results of the league. Instead, he is looking forward to all of his starting players being healthy and at the top of their game for the playoffs.

He states that our Huskies would easily beat the D3 playoffs without our starters, however since our team is going to go in the D2 playoffsm he wants all the starters to be in shape. The only school that could beat the North Hollywood Huskies fair and square is Arleta High School.

Most of the athletes have said that it is usually “referees vs North Hollywood, and not North Hollywood vs other high schools.” Thus, since the league was stripped away from us due to it being North Hollywood vs refs, Coach Faer is only looking forward to the playoff season.

Before going into the game against Monroe, Number 7, Markiyh Shepard, averaged 2.3 receiving yards per game. Number 3, Jaylin Burt, averaged 186 rushing yards per game, and he had 13 total touchdowns in just 5 games. Number 20, Daniel Banegas, averaged 7.3 tackles per game.

Number 6, Omar Muhammad, averaged 12.1 yards per carry, and he had obtained 3 sacks on the quarterback. Number 4, Jagger Belson, had 2 interceptions. Number 18, Omarr Williams, had 1 caused fumble, and number 60, Chris Renteria, had 1 fumble recovery. Our quarterback number 5, Nate Arlauskas, had a completion percentage of 0.83%, and he had a QB rating of 4.9.

Thus, our school runs the ball a lot. However, Coach Faer knows that nobody in our league has been able to and isn’t going to be able to stop our double wing formation. With our running backs, our players speed and stamina, nobody was able or is going to be able to stop us. However, Coach Faer is going to use the league as a time to experiment with our players before going into the playoffs, so he had 60% running plays and 40% passing plays. He wants to know if we could pass the ball during playoffs, so he is going to test that theory out in the league.

Against common opponents, Monroe lost against Grant, and North Hollywood won against Grant. However, Monroe won against Chavez, and North Hollywood lost against Chavez. Although, Monroe is ranked as having the 56th best football team in the Los Angeles City Section, while North Hollywood has the 39th best football team in the LA City Section. Thus, according to the ranking North Hollywood had the upper hand.
