The spring sports of North Hollywood High School begin! Softball, Baseball, Boys Golf, Boys Tennis, Boys Volleyball, and Track are in season and ready to show their husky pride out on the field, course, court, and track. The Huskies have been preparing heavily through tough consistent practices and building their team chemistry by getting to know new teammates to be ready for the 2026 season.
On the field, Softball has been working hard on their team chemistry so they can have a fun season. Short-stop Harper Latsch (#11) says, “This season we got a bunch of new faces and already we have become a stronger team”. With this instant support from the returning players and their shared struggle of not having a home field, the team is constantly pushing each other to improve. Utility player Kennedy Jones says, “The chemistry is good between our teammates because despite us focusing on improving our skills we try to have fun with each other”. The team recently got access to a practice field, igniting the passion and excitement for the upcoming season.

Baseball has been preparing for this season since November. From long practices and a bunch of preseason games. First Basemen Johnny Rodriguez (#3) has been working on his mental game. Rodriguez says, “I should always keep my head up and to not care about the outcome as much as I used to.” By keeping his head in the game, the team is just getting stronger. As for Pitcher Ben Balsam (#82), who has been working endlessly to perfect his throw. Balsam says, “During our off season, I’ve been throwing long tosses every week, lifting hard in the weight room, and incorporating some speed training with my teammates.” Baseball hopes to have a strong winning record this season with their young talent.
On the court, Boys Tennis has been working hard preparing for their season. Doubles player, Horus Kup has been working with his personal coach and getting to know the new members on the team. Kup explains, “The team chemistry right now is looking good, there are a lot of people on the team but many have been consistently going to practice and things seem quite friendly and focused”. The team has gained new talent and seems to just get better and better. Doubles player Dante Dottavia continues to work with the team along with the coach’s intense and intentional drills. Dottavia says, “Together, we’ve been working hard in practice because coach is trying to push us to be better players so we can win a championship”. The Boys Tennis team hopes to win a championship this season especially with all their promising talent this year.
On the course, Boys Golf have been working individually on their individual skills to show up the best they can for their rounds. Senior Miguel Martinez is new to team but ready to play hard this season. Martinez says, “The team has just started their practices. We’re putting and chipping as the coach corrects our swings or any mistakes we may be doing.” The team seems to be coming together well. Sophomore Jarron Lee has practicing hard to show up this season. Lee explains, “The team chemistry is very strong, even for a sport that is played individually. Everyone pushes each other and helps each other when needed and ther is a tight community. “ Boy’s Golf seems to be on the right track.

Boys volleyball has been trying out new skills to better prepare for this season. Libero Ascher Cha explains, “I’ve been preparing for this season since summer after last season ended. I really wanted to put in the work to improve and get better so that my team can rely on me more.” With this added trust, the team is coming together. Opposite Truman King has been gaining more experience to learn more about the sport. King says, “In the off season I joined a club team to grow my skill and get more experience” While both Cha and King become more well rounded players and with their strong captains, the Boys Volleyball teams strive to go undefeated in league.
Track has been putting their all into their meets. Captain Diana Araujo has been taking rest days more seriously and helping out the team in conditioning. Araujo says, “I have been preparing for this season with the team by planning external weekend trail runs to help get new and returning members mentally and physically conditioned for Track & Field.” As for the 400m runner, Herber Hernandez has been practicing hard with the team and improving his endurance. Hernandez says, “Everyone jokes around with each other and pushes each other to be better while making sure they feel supported.” As track is more individually focused, the team strives to set personal bests and make great memories.
