At North Hollywood High School, the lady huskies have been working hard and making waves in this season of basketball. With a new coach on the team, the girls have been showcasing their hard work in every game and practice. The team dedicated to beating their biggest opponents in this season with an overall league score of 6-4.
During this season, Varsity Captain Salma Perez (#1), shares that she and her team have been preparing for this season by working on defense. Perez states, “We have been altering our defense to make it stronger than the last time we played against our opponents.” Perez explains that by being a team leader, she has learned that everyone is a team no matter what the obstacles are. Perez also mentions, “We learned not to point fingers at each other and learned that if one falls we all fall.”

In addition, point guard, Menoli Sugathadasa (#13), states that they have been preparing by working on their plays. She expresses that by doing passing and shooting drills helps the team work on their weaknesses. Sugathadasa explains, “I think I bring a lot of energy to the court and I try my best to give my teammates the ball.” By doing this Sugathadasa hopes that she and her team can work together and become stronger.
Furthermore, power forward, Shyla Bailey (#25), and shares that she and the team have been preparing by training and trying to find the best ways to work together to win. Bailey expresses, “Our team has been contributing our time and hard work to succeed in games.” Doing this she hopes to contribute in encouraging others on the team and to help defeat their biggest opponent this season.
Nonetheless, the North Hollywood lady huskies have been showing impressive growth within each other. With their main focus on improving themselves and as a team, the Huskies are showing the power of hard work, leadership, on and off the court. As the season progresses, it’s clear that their dedication and teamwork will continue to drive them towards achieving their ultimate goals.
